Your real estate agent for Solingen and surroundings
At first glance, one hardly suspects that the district-free city in the Bergisches Land region is an old industrial city - Solingen captivates with a lot of greenery and a high residential value in the midst of rolling hills and green forests. Instead of a historic city center, one finds here a kaleidoscope of small-town settlement cores. But above all, the "Klingenstadt" is known as a traditional center of the cutlery industry - the name 'Solingen' has long been a trademark for quality knives and solid scissors. Another unique selling point is the imposing Müngsten arch bridge, which is even internationally known as Germany's highest railroad bridge.
But it is surely rather the quality of life conditioned by location and infrastructure that makes Solingen so attractive to locals and future residents. In the five city districts Gräfrath, forest, Ohligs/Aufderhöhe/Merscheid, castle/Höhscheid and Solingen center are numerous real estate offers for each requirement - whether dwelling in the center or home in the countryside. So if you are looking for a property in Solingen, want to buy a house or buy a flat or rent, feel free to contact your VON POLL IMMOBILIEN team in Solingen. History of the "Klingenstadt"
The urban area of Solingen emerged from a historical landscape that for centuries consisted of rural farmsteads, independent communities and an ecclesiastical dominion, the Gräfrath monastery. As early as the late Middle Ages, the dukes of Berg established a superior administrative and judicial district based in Solingen. Since the 13th century, the craftsmen and merchants of the Solingen area specialized in the production and distribution of sword blades and knives. With the industrial revolution in the 19th century, population numbers exploded: Rural communities became dynamically growing cities, which condensed into an urban landscape. People spoke of the "Solingen factory", meaning neither town nor factory, but the clearly defined geographical area where knives, cutlery andblank weapons were produced. In 1926, Wald, Gräfrath, Höhscheid and Solingen, including Ohligs, were united into one town in the course of a municipal reform. With the "Law on the municipal
reorganization of the Rhenish-Westphalian industrial area', which came into force on 1.8.1929, the new city received the name Solingen - as a trademark for quality, it is incidentally the only city in the world whose name is protected under trademark law.

Whether theater, cinema or concert: Solingen also has a lot to offer culturally. For example, the Solingen Theater and Concert Hall attracts visitors with a multifaceted program ranging from cabaret to classics, from chamber concerts to symphonies with the Bergische Symphoniker and from choral concerts to opera. In addition to the cultural offerings, the region around Solingen also has its scenic attractions and invites with its dams, rivers and streams to extended excursions. In the green oases of the city, such as the Brückenpark, you can also wonderfully switch off - and that in the middle of the city.
