Surrounded by mountains, the breathtaking mountain landscape in and around Bolzano offers ideal opportunities for active leisure activities: Val Badia and Gröden can be reached from Bolzano in less than an hour and Selva Gardena, the highest village in Gröden, is part of the largest ski area in the world with the Sella Ronda. In the summer months, a trip to Lake Caldaro or a hiking tour through the magnificent panoramic landscape is always worthwhile. Bolzano is known worldwide for the glacier mummy „Ötzi“: every year, more than 250,000 visitors are drawn to the city's archaeological museum to marvel at the archaeological find. Away from the hustle and bustle, lovers of relaxation will also get a taste for it: the spa town of Merano is located just outside Bolzano and attracts visitors with its green promenades, botanical gardens and soothing spas.
