Surroundings & landscape

In the early 1970s, the district of Lauf an der Pegnitz was renamed the district of Nürnberger Land. It is located in the foothills of the Franconian Alb and covers an area of 800 square kilometers, large parts of which are covered by forest. The landscape in the Nürnberger Land is characterized by gentle mountains and hills, castles and rocks. At 633 meters, the Hohenstein mountain is the highest elevation.
