Villa Castelvetere is located in the Municipality of Biandronno, an Italian municipality of about 3,200 inhabitants in the province of Varese, Lombardy, located at 262 meters above sea level. Overlooking Lake Varese, the pretty village is also known for the presence of the Isolino Virginia-Camilla-Litta-Isola di San Biagio, an 'important archaeological site, so much so that in 2011 it deserved recognition in the prestigious UNESCO World Heritage List, along with other ancient settlements on the Alps pile-dwelling of prehistoric age. What is special about Biandronno is that during the economic boom, it was a center of great migratory influx of people from both northern and southern regions of Italy, which at the time were predominantly agricultural. For this reason, Biandronno underwent a rapid increase in population and consequent social life, thanks mainly to the establishment of the Ignis factory. Since 1991, Ignis has become owned by Whirlpool, which is still operating in the area. There is also another important factory, namely SWM Motorcycles, a brand of enduro, motocross and supermotard motorcycles. The lake is also a point of attraction for water sports such as fishing and boating, while motor boats are banned. Also special is the Lake's 12-kilometer bicycle (and pedestrian) path, which forms a circumlacial loop.
