One floor was completely renovated in 2010, and the restaurant/pub was partially renovated in 2012. It is located just 200 meters – or about a 2-minute walk – from its sister hotel, Blaue Ecke. This traditional hotel with a long history warmly welcomes you. Guests have been welcomed and pampered here since 1889. The much-admired hunting trophy, and still the hotel's trademark, was a magnificent boar's head, which remains a theme throughout the hotel. Hotel Wildes Schwein offers 20 rooms in two different categories. All rooms feature a shower/WC, cable TV, a hairdryer, and a towel warmer. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel. Furthermore, the hotel offers free parking directly in front of the building. The hotel entrance is located on the side street. Currently, the hotel is jointly managed with its sister hotel, Blaue Ecke. This equally well-known and even older building currently houses the shared reception and restaurant for both hotels. The nearby Nürburgring is a major economic driver for the region. Consequently, the guest list for the Hotel "Zum wilden Schwein" (The Wild Boar) boasts some particularly illustrious names. Naturally, the world's elite racing drivers of the time frequented the hotel, given its connection to the Nürburgring, which opened in 1927. These included Rudolf Caracciola, Hermann Lang, Manfred von Brauchitsch, and Hans Stuck. Later, other racing aces such as Juan Manuel Fangio and Wolfgang Graf Berghe von Trips joined their ranks, to name just a few. But other prominent figures from politics, art, and culture also frequented the hotel. Members of the nobility and the imperial family, including Prince August-Wilhelm, nicknamed "Au-Wi," as well as the politician Erich Mende (FDP), actor Paul Kemp, Gustav Gründgens, Cologne carnival celebrities, and also former General Adolf Galland, General Steinhoff, and many other well-known figures, were among the regular guests.
